LIONS MEDICAL RESEARCH PERSONALITY QUEST
The research of today could be the cure of tomorrow!
The Lions Medical Research Personality Quest (the Quest) is the main fundraiser for the Lions Medical Research Foundation (LMRF). The Quest has a proud 46 year history with women focused on raising funds in their communities to ultimately save lives of others. Not only was this the entrants main focus but also each has benefited professionally and personally from their Quest experiences.
Since it began in 1963, the Lions Medical Research Foundation has supported internationally recognized medical research in a diversity of areas. The Foundation does this by funding early career medical researchers. This nurturing, results in future medical successes giving health benefits to all. Some examples of research: Parkinson's Disease, Kidney disease, Asthma, Urodynamics, Anti-venom, Immunology, Ophthalmology, Toxicology, Perinatal, Schizophrenia, Diabetes, Skin Cancer, Cord Blood, In-vitro Corneal Transplant, Cancer therapies, Bone & Joint Disease and many others.
The Quest is State Wide and run each financial year with a Personality Winner and a Charity Winner being announced at the Quest Grand Final in June.
Meet our 2014-15 entrant - Kirsten Grigor!
Hi,My name is Kirsten Grigor and I am a 20 year old student, studying a bachelor of Occupational Therapy at the University of the Sunshine Coast. I also work part time in my family businesses at Landsborough IGA and Birdy Boutique. I thoroughly enjoy playing various sports, including touch football, running, netball and personal training. My passion lies in traveling and seeing all parts of the world and wish to, once completing my degree, combine the two working both rurally within Australia and overseas.
As the Maleny entrant for Lions medical research Miss Personally Quest, I hope to raise as much funds and awareness for medical research as possible as well as work alongside many supportive lions members. I look forward to working with the Lions club of Maleny and endeavour to make a long lasting relationship.
