  • Mountain View Challenge - Sunday 14 October 2018

    Registrations will open mid 2018 for the Lions Mountain View Challenge. Incorporating a 21.1 km run, a 10,000 m run, 5,000m run and the 3,000 m Schools Challenge & Family Fun Run/Walk. All proceeds to Lions Childhood Cancer Research.

Newcomers are given an information pack and will have the opportunity to meet other new-comers & locals, local business owners, members of community organisations, local residents, as well as our major sponsors; the Maleny IGA and Sunshine Coast Council

  • Peace Poster Update

    PEACE POSTER

    A Celebration of Peace

    Please note the theme for this year's Peace Poster competition is “A Celebration of Peace”. I am including in this notice some extracts from Helen Campbell National Peace Poster Chair as a reminder to those Clubs who regularly support this project and as notification to those Clubs that will be participating in this project for the first time.

    There had previously been an indication (in the January Newswire) that the Peace Poster Kits (available from National Office at a cost of $20.00 (plus postage if applicable)) were already available for purchase. However I have been advised that there has been a delay in these arriving from LCI. We are of the understanding that these will be available by late February.

    For those Clubs that include the Peace Poster competition in their Club activitites, please purchase your PP Kit and begin the process of negotiating with your local Schools to gain their support and commitment to participate in this International Youth Project competition. There are a number of items which I wish to bring to your attention as a reminder as it is very disappointing to have to withhold an entry from judging at the District level due to non-conformance of the competition rules.

    Lioness Clubs can sponsor the contest through the sponsoring Lions Club. The Winner Sticker which is attached to all entries submitted, needs to show the Lions Club details. Also keep in mind that no words are allowed on the drawing. This is clearly stated in the rules and any entry with words included must be withdrawn from submitting for judging.

    For those Clubs who have not previously been involved in the PP competition, it is recommended that a member of your Club is appointed as PP Chair and the Club become involved in this International Youth competition. A visit to the MD Convention Peace Poster stand would be most beneficial.

    More information is available on the Lions Peace Poster website and the closing dates for last year are stated as a guidline for this current year. These will be updated for the current year shortly.
