    Support Earth Hour on Saturday 28 March 8:30 - 9:30pm - created 27/3/20

“Lions will continue to find ways to support our communities during this COVID-19 crisis” said District Governor 201 Q3 Donna Hedges. Social distancing doesn’t mean we have to lose our service or social connection.

“One way to serve from home, would be for Lions in District 201 Q3 to participate in Earth Hour 2020” said District 201 Q 3 Environment Chair John Creagh.

Since 2007, Earth Hour has been adopted by communities large and small. Can you #SwitchOff between 8.30 - 9.30pm on Saturday 28 March 2020?

Register your participation in Earth Hour, and join hundreds of communities, organisations, landmarks and councils that want to see action on climate change.

There are many ways you and our Lions clubs could get involved in Earth Hour:

    • #SwitchOff for Earth Hour and register your participation

    • We are providing our Lions logo to be include on their Pledge wall

    • Join Australia unplugged and online for #EarthHourLive

    • Take part in the Earth Hour Solar Light Challenge

    • Becoming an Earth Hour sponsor

    201 Q 3 Drought Relief - update 11/02/2020

PDG Carmel Goldsworthy has arranging for the arrival of a semi from Tasmania. Sourced 32 round bales and 1 large square bale for our drought affected farmers.

Originally Q 3 were only taking half the load and the rest was going to the Wondai area in Q4. However, because of local flooding, it was decided to take the full load here in Toowoomba.

Storage for the load at the Farm Fest site organised by Lion Marshall Cox (Toowoomba West). Helped by local Toowoomba Lions, Ken & Janelle Bray, PDG Bob Goldsworthy and myself, Zone Chairman Gail Jones (Oakey), Lion Wilma Proudlock (Pittsworth) and Lion Traudi Krampl (Cecil Plains). They contacted many Darling Downs farmers. Farmers then came and collected this hay. Our team was assisted by Greg, a farmer from Meringandan. Greg provided his fork lift.

    Carmel would like to thank

    * semi driver Tom, who drove all the way from Tasmania, the company he works for

    * “Need for Feed” organisation who arranged for this hay

    * Farm Fest (Toowoomba) their CEO who allowed us to store hay

    * local farmer Greg

Can Clubs find $3,000 for a polyethene water tank - Bushfire recovery - released 9/2/2020

Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has given over ½ million dollars to help our Districts and Lions/Lioness/Leo Clubs provide the basic items and comfort to individual bushfire victims in towns and villages across Australia.

AUS $150,000 of the ½ million has enabled the LCIF Replacement Water Tank Initiative has started in District 201 N 1. District Governor Bill Shepherd has advised me, so many more water tanks will be needed as communities reach Recovery Mode.

The criteria for receiving a replacement water tank:

    • Has been “fire affected’

    • Not connected to town water

    • Family with children, elderly or disabled

    • In recovery mode

With a $3,000 donation to LCIF, companies, individuals and Lions clubs can have your name on a tank.
For LIons - as there is nothing on the LCIF donation form to say “water tank”, the donation has to be exactly $3,000 so we know it’s for a tank. If you want, you give 2 tanks – fill out 2 forms – each for $3,000.

Lions please send your Club’s $3,000 donation to your District Cabinet Treasurer. Payment made to “LCI/LCIF Disaster Relief Fund”.
For the public (non Lions) please would you contact me.

$3,000 will fund the supply & install of a 22,700 litre polyethylene tank, pump, pipes, base and filled with fresh water.

For more information contact: Nigel Jeny O.A.M. LCIF MD201 Co-ordinator
