Maleny Blackall Range Lions Club Meet and Greet Event.

On Sunday 8^th October the Maleny Blackall Range Lions Club held their 18^th Meet and Greet event, with 203 people attending. This year we altered the format to Drinks and Canapes at Tranquil Park Maleny, which has the amazing backdrop of the Glasshouse Mountains. We provided local entertainment, a very talented 13-year-old musician (Henry Catania), and conducted an auction of some beautiful glassware donated by a local Glassblower, and a package of vouchers donated by local businesses. A raffle we had been running over the last eight weeks was drawn with raffle prizes donated by local artists and businesses.                                                                                        

Lions’ members served canapes and circulated amongst newcomers helping them to feel welcome. The local State MP for Glasshouse, Andrew Powell, acted as the Master of Ceremonies and our local Councillor, Winston Johnson regaled us with stories of how Maleny was when he was young The aim of the event is to welcome newcomers to Maleny, to attract a cross section of ages, young and old, and to keep the cost of the afternoon within everyone’s means. The Maleny Blackall Range Lions Club raised a record amount of money primarily from sponsorship of the event by our very generous Local Businesses. The club produced a booklet that promoted our local sponsors as well as showcasing the projects of the club. Our club was very pleased with the success of the 2023 Meet & Greet function, our signature event in our year.
